Impostor Factory on the other hand, revolves around a man named Quincy who is invited to a lavish soiree at a mansion. and are tasked with uncovering the memories of their dying clients.

I want to tread lightly here as to not get into spoilers, but what you should know if you’re a fan of those other games is that Impostor Factory is centered around someone completely new. Impostor Factory is not the sequel to To the Moon and Finding Paradise that many of us fans were hoping for. Those criticisms are totally valid, I just don't think that's what these games are trying to explore.First and foremost, I want to address the story.

You can say that the plot of To The Moon doesn't matter because it wasn't real, but to the fictional John I imagine that getting to see a lifetime where he got all the things (idk how to spoiler tag) meant a lot. In this way, if you're wanting stories where they "fix" what went wrong, this probably isn't the franchise for you - in my opinion I think they're far more concerned with the minutiae in what it means to live your life in a certain way, what it means to reconsider and alter those choices and how reality is a deeply personal thing.

The "perfect" life was when none of this adversity existed - and as Neil himself says, the only reason it was perfect is because we know there were realities with so much more heartache. Lynri and Quincy had to make an impossible choice of whether to delay her treatment or not, and neither is morally correct in my opinion, the point was just that both options existed, and we got to see the outcomes.

Every version of reality that Lynri lived was real to her, so who's to say that it can't be real, full stop.

While it's definitely not my favourite of the series and didn't give me the emotional gut punch of the others, I think the point was that everything is real, not that nothing else. Finding Paradise begins to question this notion of "reality" with the whole Faye plot twist, but Imposter Factory goes even harder. So basically, nothing is real - but then again, we're playing a fictional video game, so. I don't know, I think this is a valid criticism, but I think a lot of these games involves playing with the idea of what is "real." Like, the premise of To The Moon is that Watts and Rosalene create a simulation to fulfil a dying man's regrets.

Plus the writers made it even more on the nose by giving him actual presence as the ray of light right after the question. They acknowledge him to be as real as they themselves are. Not sure how you missed both what was said in the ending and me repeating it in the first sentence of my comment, but again: Lynri asks Faye if Tobi is there with them. They threw Tobi right under the garbage and both Lynri and Quentin know the kid is fake lol if that was their intention then they failed. So on the contrary, I think they made it very clear how important Tobi was to the story, and how there's no way for a mother to forget her child even after living through a whole other lifetime. In a way, the story both starts with Tobi, since he's the reason for Lynri's grief and regrets and what motivates her to work on the machine-to-human interfacing, and ends with him. At the "second coming" of their world, they all got together again. Originally posted by meee:Aside from what Lord_Dracon said, Lynri asks Faye if Tobi is there with them at the very end, and a light shines from above. Hope the good rice can help healing you up. Neil being alive does not make 'alternative' Lynri's loss in the story any less heartbreaking in my opinion. I mean losing the mother in a family isn't going to be any better than losing the kid. Otherwise the entire story become meaningless because nothing in reality was ever changed. I understand it can be debated on the 'value' or being 'real' or 'fake' but in this series I would have a mindset of being 'fake' is nothing less than being the reality. I mean in the two possibilities, each one of the couple took one step forward for the other member of the family no matter 'real' or 'fake'.

Yet in the 'base reality' the brave mother decided to carry the risk on her own making sure Neil can get his best chance. In that tough situation, the brave husband stood out and decide to protect his beloved which would cause the death of Tobi. Sorry for your loss but I guess it might feel better if you would like to see that 'alternative life' in a somehow different way.
